The Helmholtz Center for Information Security, formerly known as the Saarbrucken Center for Information Technology Security, Privacy and Accountability, was incorporated into the Helmholtz Association on January 1, 2019 and covers all aspects of information security. The center currently employs about 200 top research scientists. Since its inception, CISPA has been at the heart of not only organising and supporting Saarbrucken's cybersecurity and privacy research activities, but also providing support to cybersecurity and privacy researchers. CISPA has developed into an internationally renowned top research institution in the field of information security and privacy, and has achieved rapid growth by attracting prestigious grants, large-scale research projects and multinational collaborations.
The basic mission of the Helmholtz Information Security Center is to deal with the basic issues of network security research in the digital age. It aims to provide comprehensive and effective solutions to the major challenges of network security and privacy research faced by society in the digital age, covering the full range of theoretical to empirical research. The Helmholtz Center for Information Security plays an important international role in the field of cybersecurity and privacy research, involving cutting-edge basic and application-oriented research. It is based in computer science and has strong links with the medical, legal and social sciences. Its research currently includes five research areas: information security and privacy processing, network security assurance, information threat detection and defense, secure information mobile and autonomous systems, and experience and behavior security.
