The Research Centre for Sustainable Social Transformations (CRS) at Karlstad University conducts multidisciplinary research on current and historical trends and future challenges. Researchers collaborate on local, regional, national and international issues, aiming to contribute new research findings and methodologies to the field of sustainable development and a range of other social challenges. The center is also affiliated with the graduate School.
The Center's researchers and doctoral students study a wide range of disciplines: political science, human geography, history, sociology, social work, and risk and environmental studies.
The Karlstad University Research Centre for Sustainable Social Transformation is located in Karlstad. Karlstad is the capital of Sweden's Wemland province, located on the bank of the third largest lake in Europe, Lake Wienen. It connects Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and Oslo, the capital of Norway, and is an important transportation hub in central Sweden.
CRS Bridges the gap between society and science. Their goal is to contribute to social change. Therefore, collaboration with stakeholders and research exchanges are an important part of the campaign. The research was also carried out in collaboration with other researchers at Karlstad University and the environment as well as other higher education institutions in Sweden and abroad.
