中国科学院大连化学物理研究所(以下简称“大连化物所”)创建于1949年3月,当时定名为“大连大学科学研究所”,1961年底更名为“中国科学院化学物理研究所”,1970年正式定名为“中国科学院大连化学物理研究所”。
大连化物所是一个基础研究与应用研究并重、应用研究和技术转化相结合,以任务带学科为主要特色的综合性研究所。七十多年来,大连化物所通过不断积累和调整,逐步形成了自己的科研特色。1998年,大连化物所成为中国科学院知识创新工程首批试点单位之一;2007年经国家批准筹建洁净能源国家实验室;2010年8月,大连化物所在“创新2020”发展战略研讨会中将所发展战略修订为“发挥学科综合优势,加强技术集成创新,以可持续发展的能源研究为主导,坚持资源环境优化、生物技术和先进材料创新协调发展,在国民经济和国家安全中发挥不可替代的作用,创建世界一流研究所”。
大连化物所重点学科领域为:催化化学、工程化学、化学激光和分子反应动力学以及近代分析化学和生物技术。
大连化物所围绕国家能源发展战略,于2011年10月启动了洁净能源国家实验室(DNL)的筹建工作,DNL是我国能源领域筹建的第一个国家实验室,设有燃料电池、生物能源、化石能源与应用催化、节能与环境、低碳催化与工程、太阳能、储能技术、氢能与先进材料、能源基础和战略、能源材料(筹)、能源战略研究中心、能源研究技术平台等11个研究部和1个研究平台;设有仪器分析化学、精细化工、催化基础、化学激光、化学动力学、航天催化与新材料、生物技术、大连光源科学、本草物质科学等9个研究室。设有催化基础和分子反应动力学两个国家重点实验室;设有低碳催化技术国家工程研究中心、国家催化工程技术研究中心、膜技术国家工程研究中心、国家能源低碳催化与工程研发中心等多个国家级科技创新平台;设有化学激光、分离分析化学、燃料电池及复合电能源、航天催化材料、电化学储能技术等5个中国科学院院级实验室。另外,大连化物所还与国外著名大学、公司和研究机构联合设立了中法催化联合实验室、中法可持续能源联合实验室、中德催化纳米技术伙伴小组、DICP-BP能源创新实验室、DICP-SABIC先进化学品生产研究中心和中法分子筛联合实验室等十几个国际合作研究机构。

Over the past 70 years, Dalian Institute of Chemical Compounds has gradually formed its own characteristics of scientific research through continuous accumulation and adjustment. In 1998, Dalian Institute of Chemical Engineering became one of the first pilot units of Knowledge Innovation Project of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2007, the state approved the establishment of the Clean Energy National Laboratory; In August 2010, in the "Innovation 2020" development strategy seminar, the development strategy of Dalian Institute of Chemical Engineering was revised to "give full play to the comprehensive advantages of disciplines, strengthen the integrated innovation of technologies, take the sustainable development of energy research as the leading role, adhere to the coordinated development of resource and environment optimization, biotechnology and advanced material innovation, and play an irreplaceable role in the national economy and national security. The key disciplines of the Institute are catalytic chemistry, engineering chemistry, chemical laser and molecular reaction kinetics, modern analytical chemistry and biotechnology.
Focusing on the national energy development strategy, Dalian Institute starts to prepare to build a National Laboratory for Clean Energy (DNL) in October 2011. DNL is the first national laboratory to set up in the energy field. It has 11 research departments and 1 research platform, including fuel cell, bioenergy, Fossil energy and applied Catalysis, energy conservation and environment, low-carbon catalysis and Engineering, solar energy, energy storage technology, hydrogen energy and advanced Materials, Energy Foundation and Strategy, Energy Materials (preparation), energy Strategy Research Center, and energy Research Technology Platform. There are 9 research LABS, including Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, Fine Chemical Engineering, Fundamentals of Catalysis, Chemical Laser, Chemical Kinetics, Aerospace Catalysis and New Materials, Biotechnology, Dalian Light Source Science, Materia Medica Material Science, etc. It has two state key laboratories: Fundamentals of Catalysis and Molecular Reaction Kinetics. It has a number of national science and technology innovation platforms, such as the National Engineering Research Center for Low carbon Catalysis Technology, the National Engineering Research Center for Catalysis Technology, the National Engineering Research Center for membrane Technology, the National Energy Low Carbon Catalysis and Engineering Research and Development Center. There are 5 Chinese Academy of Sciences laboratories, including chemical laser, separation and analytical Chemistry, fuel cell and composite electric energy, aerospace catalytic materials, electrochemical energy storage technology.
